Peptides for focused research.

A clear, considered range of research materials for laboratory work.

A certificate per batch A report covers the number on the label and no other.
Verifiable at the source A result only the seller can show is not independent of the seller.
Mass, not the name A trade name can cover more than one molecule. The measured mass says which one is in the vial.
What a certificate cannot say It describes one lot on one day. It says nothing about storage, or about the vial in your hand.

What a certificate has to show

What this site publishes is how to read one: which line ties a document to the vial in your hand, which figures decide the question, and which lines are usually left out.

What a laboratory measures

01

HPLC chromatography

High-performance liquid chromatography separates the material into its components and measures the area of each peak. The purity figure on a certificate is the area of the main peak as a percentage of the whole, and the impurity peaks belong beside it rather than summarised away into one number.

02

Mass spectrometry

Purity says how much of one thing is in the vial. Mass says which thing it is. A certificate should state the measured mass beside the theoretical mass for the sequence, because a compound sold under two different names - a full-length protein and a short fragment, say - is told apart by that number and by nothing else on the page.

03

Reading the result

A report is worth what it can be checked against. It belongs to one batch number, it names its methods and its date, and a figure quoted without those is a sentence rather than a measurement. Peptorium states no such figure of its own.

Tool

Peptide calculator

Volumetric arithmetic for lyophilised material: vial content and solvent volume give the concentration of the solution, and the concentration gives the volume corresponding to any mass you name. It converts what you enter and suggests nothing.
