About this material

Why a pack cannot have a certificate
A certificate of analysis is a laboratory's record of what it found in one batch of one material, on one date, by named methods. It belongs to that batch and to nothing else. Put two materials in one box and you have two batches, two records and two labels - not a combined document. Any seller offering a single certificate covering a peptide and its solvent has produced a marketing artefact, and it is worth noticing, because the same instinct that merges two certificates is the instinct that reuses one certificate across every vial of a product.

The peptide: BPC-157
A synthetic pentadecapeptide, sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV, CAS 137525-51-0, formula C62H98N16O22, calculated mass 1419.53 g/mol, listed publicly as PubChem CID 9941957. It contains no cysteine and so carries no disulfide bridges. It has no marketing authorisation in the United Kingdom or the European Union and does not appear in the EMA medicines database; in the UK, regulation 46 of the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 prohibits selling, supplying or offering an unauthorised medicinal product, and regulation 2 defines such a product by presentation as well as by function. The analysis that applies to it is peptide analysis: purity by HPLC with the impurity peaks listed, the measured mass beside the theoretical 1419.53 g/mol, peptide content stated separately from purity, water by Karl Fischer titration, the method, the date, the batch number and a laboratory report number that can be checked away from the seller.
The solvent: bacteriostatic water
Water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative - a well-characterised small molecule, C7H8O, 108.14 g/mol, PubChem CID 244. The preservative inhibits bacterial multiplication, which is what makes a multiple-entry vial workable. It does not sterilise, and it is not a pharmacopoeial grade of water.
None of the peptide analyses apply to it. A solvent has no chromatogram, no peptide content and no theoretical mass to check a measurement against. Purity and peptide content, since only one item has them
Purity by HPLC is a ratio - the share of separated peak area belonging to the target sequence. Peptide content is a quantity - the share of the vial's mass that is peptide at all, the balance being residual water and counter-ions left from synthesis, usually acetate or trifluoroacetate. Neither can be calculated from the other, and both belong to the peptide vial alone. Reconstitution is arithmetic
The volume of solvent chosen is what sets the concentration of the resulting solution: 5 mg made up to 2.5 ml gives 2 mg/ml, and the same 5 mg made up to 5 ml gives 1 mg/ml. The phrase records the seller's intended purpose - laboratory work, not use in people. It is not a category in UK or EU law, not a licence, and not a review by any authority. It is not a quality claim about either item in this pack.
